**Your opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager, Residence Life (RLC), the Residence Life Coordinator oversees the development and delivery of residential education programs designed to support the psychosocial and socio-emotional developmental needs of students. The residential education program complements the academic mission of the College specifically focusing on programs and services that advance culturaltransition, student learning and success, health and wellness, and career planning and development.
The RLC’s responsibilities include: developing activities, services, and supports for residents; assisting with the selection, and training of student-staff; advising student leaders; supporting and facilitating referrals; routine and emergency on-call response and issue management; and assisting with formatting, proofreading, and composing routine printed materials, newsletters, letters, and documents. They also act as the primary liaison with the New College Residence Council (NCRC), providing administrative support to the Executive members and House Councils to promote an active residence community, and support their organizational structure.
The incumbent is required to live in a junior one-bedroom apartment in Wetmore Hall. While most work is conducted during regular business hours, evening and weekend work is regularly required. The RLC participates in a rotating on-call schedule with the MRL, and the Coordinator, Residence Education Programs (CREP), and may be required to contact the necessary services to address emergencies arising from residence/residents during this period.
As a member of the Office of Residence and Student Life team, the Residence Life Coordinator will be committed to an equity that recognizes, supports, and responds to the diverse histories, lived and marginalized experiences of students and many communities.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Implementing plans and process improvements for diverse and inclusive program and service activities
- Advising students on the interpretation of rules and regulations regarding the use of space and organizing events on campus
- Recruiting and training student learning support mentors
- Advising students on personal and academic issues by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
- Interpreting applicable guidelines and protocols to determine policy violations
- Analyzing and making recommendations for programming enhancements, and ensure that programming is Equity-Grounded
- Providing basic support and general referrals to individuals in distress
- Coaching residence student staff on handling personal and non-personal complaints
**Essential Qualifications**:
- Bachelor degree in leadership development, community development, cross-cultural communication, or adult education, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent and related experience working in a university student residence and live-in residence setting.
- Experience in individual advising, conflict mediation, program development, and community standards enforcement in an undergraduate residence community.
- Experience with evaluation and research tools, and demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize data.
- Experience managing a set of competing priorities and be prepared to deal with, or refer, emergencies in the residence and the personal crises of individual residents.
- Experience in facilitating collaborative partnerships and relationships with a variety of stakeholders (e.g. students, student leaders, staff, faculty, and administration) to foster an inclusive residence community.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring of student leaders and staff.
- Ability to deal with diverse issues in a dynamic and changing student environment.
- Demonstrated intermediate skill with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Access) and desktop publishing.
