Dartmouth, Canada Powell Associates Ltd. Full time

Powell Associates Ltd. (“PAL”) is looking for a motivated individual to join our team in Dartmouth, NS or Saint John, NB as a Debt Solutions Advisor.

PAL is a Licensed Insolvency Trustee based in Saint John with satellite offices in Fredericton, Moncton, Charlottetown and Dartmouth. Through these offices, PAL provides consumer and corporate insolvency services in the Maritimes.

**Duties and Responsibilities Include**:

- Conducting consultations by phone and in person with consumer debtors.
- Gathering initial relevant information from the debtor in order to effectively assess and discuss options for resolving the debtor’s financial situation and the pros and cons of each option.
- Obtaining detailed information regarding assets, debts and past transactions to confirm initial assessments, identify issues for follow-up with trustee and documenting conclusions.
- Coordinating with input Administrator on data input.
- Administrative tasks as required which could include any aspect of bankruptcy or proposal administration or assistance on corporate files.

**Skills and Experience Requirements**:

- Post-Secondary Education.
- Experience working in a consumer insolvency practice.
- Working knowledge of how all consumer insolvency proceedings work.
- Working knowledge of asset exemptions and key PPSA considerations combined with ability to investigate and assess asset valuations and prior transactions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong computer literacy: ASCEND, Word, Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Reliable vehicle for travel to other offices, as required.

**Training**:

- Training will be provided internally as required. If travel is required as part of the training, expenses will be paid by PAL.

**Additional Skills (not critical to position but would be beneficial to consideration)**:

- CAIRP Counsellor’s Qualification Course Certificate. Current registration with the OSB as an Insolvency Counsellor.
- Completion of or enrollment in CAIRP’s Insolvency Administrator Course.
- Bilingual.
- Interest in social media - blogging, tweeting, writing short articles related to consumer insolvency and financial literacy.

**Salary**: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
