- 840 hours workedQualifications: MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field, or a technical diploma in a related discipline is required.
- Must have a valid class 5 Manitoba driver's license. EXPERIENCE:
- 4 years of recent, directly related experience dealing with on premise IT infrastructure, including setup, configuration, maintenance, and support of virtual server environments (academic or professional setting required).
- At least 3 years of IT experience from a research/academic institution preferred.
- Experience supporting personal computers, networks, printers, and troubleshooting hardware/software issues required.
- Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, particularly in operating system and software deployment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in software installation, upgrades, system security, and maintaining an inventory catalogue required.
- Experience in computerized research environments, including research computing, statistical tools, and acquisition/installation of research systems is required.
- Experience with procurement, lifecycle management, software licensing, and asset management in a medium sized IT environment is required.
- Experience administering and configuring Microsoft 365.
- Experience with wireless network setup, both campus and external providers required.
- Experience with training users on IT systems and new technologies required.
- Experience supervising staff, including assigning work, providing coaching, performance feedback, and supporting staffing processes preferred. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong technical proficiency in supporting Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and related devices required.
- Advanced knowledge of Active Directory administration, including account management and permission structure required.
- Proficiency in server administration (Microsoft SQL Server, Domain Name Systems (DNS)), enterprise collaboration, virtualization platforms, and Microsoft 365 administration is required.
- Strong capability in network configuration and troubleshooting, including wireless networks is required.
- Demonstrated ability troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and systems issues is required.
- Skilled in designing and deploying desktop images and software packages using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager is preferred.
- Ability to create clear technical documentation and procedural guides is preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills across diverse user groups is required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities is required.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team is required.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities is required.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, and mentoring skills to guide, support, and develop IT staff is preferred.
- Staying current with University of Manitoba computing resources, maintain relevant certifications, and demonstrate ongoing commitment to learning and emerging technologies is required.

- Must be able to report to multiple work locations, including the Glenlea and Carman Research Stations, as needed and the Fort Garry campus.

Key responsibilities
: Infrastructure, Systems Administration & Security
- Plans, commissions, maintains, optimizes, and decommissions IT infrastructure across the Faculty, including evaluating performance.
- Manages and supports core IT services, including the hardware, software, and infrastructure used throughout the Faculty.
- Performs system administration for Active Directory, including user account management, file system access, Organizational Units (OU) structure, and permission design.
- Monitors and responds to IT security events, ensuring compliance with security policies, licensing requirements, configuration standards, and risk controls.
- Provides onsite IT support for multiple buildings, including the Glenlea and Carman research stations. Networking, Connectivity & Systems Support
- Maintains database of computers, IP addresses, and devices authorized to access the secure campus network.
- Arranges and maintains network connectivity for specialized equipment, including growth chambers, and greenhouse systems.
