**What responsibilities will you have in this role?**
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of College academic programs and student services, including International Admission requirements and academic policies in order to explain/interpret College processes, regulations and policies.
- Intervenes and advocates on student’s behalf to address diverse situations.
- Reviews and refers academic and other enquiries appropriately to respond to various issues, including sensitive student liability issues, safety and student health concerns.
- Maintains a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of immigration regulations and policies for international students. Must maintain ongoing professional develop and current knowledge of ever-changing federal immigration policies.
- Provides expert advice to academic divisions and student service areas related to immigration policy and proper implementation and compliance.
- Works to support the achievement of annual targeted increases in international student survey results; supports the evaluation of the effectiveness and design of existing programs and services in comparison with other colleges based on data and Ministry survey results across colleges.
- Supports the design, development, and implementation of a range of innovative and responsive programs, services, and events for international students College-wide.
- Facilitates enhanced communications and information provision to international students, including improved communications regarding co-op, off-campus, on-campus and post-graduate work programs.
- Researches and visits other institutions (and networks via the ISA registry) to keep abreast of international student advising best practices and implements continuous improvements to service and information at George Brown College.
- Represents the College on Internal and External committees, as required, ensuring the division’s and College’s interests are represented.
- Supports and promotes interaction between international students and Canadian students by liaising with Student Association, Student Clubs, etc.
- Other related duties as assigned.
**What qualifications do you need for this role?**
- Three year diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in International Relations, Education, Business Administration or related discipline.
- Minimum three years’ experience in the development and implementation of student programs and services preferably in a post-secondary institution and/or international education.
- Licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) or Registered International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) is required.
- Expertise and practical experience in supporting and advocating on behalf of individuals working through forms of oppression, discrimination, and racism that is informed by both lived experience and practical experience working with international communities.
- Experience in designing/delivering workshops and managing large events is preferred.
- Experience with collaborative projects and cross-functional teams; experience working across a broad range of student groups, with student services and with relevant academic stakeholders is preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, including presentation skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to manage stressful and complex time-sensitive situations with a high degree of diplomacy and discretion.
- Strong client service leadership, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills; research and analytical skills.
- Superior organizational, planning, coordinating and time-management skills; detail oriented, results driven and collaborative orientation.
- Demonstrated commitment in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.
- Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience and styles.
- Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.
**Hours of Work: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.**
