Victoria, Canada ScanPlus Locating 2024 Full time

Does your resume include any sort of phrasing similar to, “great attention to detail”? So do a bazillion other papers that get sent in. We actually treasure it as a trait, so please ensure you’re not just spouting rando words that sound good. Be real and be the person your resume portrays. As a small, family run company, we promise the same. Do you appreciate all the kindness, fun and respect that you in turn offer your employer? Founded in 2015, based out of beautiful Sooke BC, we’re a family owned business and treat our team as such. This means we actually care about you, and as an example, help you understand mistakes and learn from them rather than issue a top-down admonishment. We appreciate your efforts and contributions as well

ScanPlus serves both commercial and residential clients, offering a wide scale of services, including utility locating, GPS mapping, archaeological site surveys, residential oil tank investigations, as well as a variety of other subsurface identification projects. We try to avoid having overtime regularly as a rule, but sometimes it might happen. We operate across Vancouver Island, visit the gulf Islands and service the mainland from time to time. We’ll happily fit in to family schedules under the confines of a 40 hour week, but we’re looking for YOUR work-life balance as much as you are

You won’t find any typical larger corporate anonymityboth in our appreciation of you and in our expectations of your input. Training takes several months to a year with a mentor/trainer in the same vehicle. We’ll teach you how to interpret GPR imagery. While we’re happy to foster and build the right person, please always feel encouraged to ask all the great questions that accelerate your learning and adeptness.

After training is complete (different timing for everyone) our team typically works individually as directed by our office manager. Fortunately, we occasionally tackle larger or complex projects with other team members. You’ll never be left to wallow, but will be supported by an easy phone call to any of your co-workers when needed.

Our needs are that you be able to work independently and safely while serving our clients at a highly proficient level. You’re not required to be an extrovert but you’ve gotta be able to deal with people professionally and positively on a daily basis. Roughly a quarter of the field tech’s day is using a windows computer to compose reports, (but you’ll NEVER have to submit a TPS Report, we promise)... If you have reasonable skills with MS Word, we can help you adapt to adding text boxes and drawing elements in other Microsoft software used. Working outside all year long and in all sorts of Vancouver Island weather is an absolute necessity for our field team.

There’s many things or skills that are potential “assets” but ultimately, spatial envisioning (imagining objects in 3D) is key to utility locating. Having some drafting skills or geomatics related experience will ease the adaptation of this, but that background is not a requirement by any means. We use BC One Calls, Site drawings, and engineer drawings daily, These skills would be an asset but we can also train you how to view and interpret those if need be

We’re hoping you stick around for a while, and ScanPlus absolutely pays & treats you as such. As expected with these types of unique jobs, there is a pay range always dependent on experience, of $22/hr to $32/hr. But have no fear We want you independent and fully trained at the top end of that scale as soon as possible too Now, what you absolutely need is a driver’s license and a can-do, open-minded learning style coupled with a personality adaptable to positive workflows with all types of clients. Being adaptable to working outside in all conditions is the golden key to entry and then we’ll train you in all equipment and report aspects.

Reply back and you'll have a great conversation with the senior locator. He'll explain away all your curious questions. You can then schedule a ride-a-long to see some aspects of what we do, and the cool equipment used. After that, you simply need to decide how much you desire the outside adventures with our family and then apply

Pay: $22.00-$32.00 per hour

**Benefits**:

- Dental care
- Extended health care
- Vision care
