**Position Summary**:

- Buyer Assistants work closely with senior buyers, other departments, and external vendors, so teamwork is crucial
- Ability to analyze sales data, understand market trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Important for tasks such as item set up, managing orders, checking product quality, cost calculation, following up artwork and shipment, also ensuring accurate documentation.
- Buyer Assistants manage multiple tasks, including tracking inventory, assisting with product selection, and coordinating with vendors, so strong organizational skills are essential.
- Effective verbal and written communication is critical, as Buyer Assistants often work with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams such as Marketing, Sales, Graphic design & Photography.
- Some understanding of negotiating terms with vendors or assisting the buyer in negotiations is beneficial.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems, Microsoft Excel, Power point, and other productivity tools is often required.
- A solid understanding of the types of products being purchased, market trends, and consumer preferences within the relevant industry.
- While not required for entry-level roles, familiarity with key vendors or suppliers in the industry can be an asset.

**Qualifications**
- College or University degree in business administration, marketing, retail management, or a related field is preferred
- Associate’s associate degree or certification in merchandising, buying, or retail management.
- Minimum 3 years work experience required.
- Prior exposure to buying, merchandising, or inventory management is a plus.
- Skills: Creativity, good communication, time management, cooperation, people skills, ability to work in fast paced, high stress situations, adaptability, flexibility.
- Computer skills: Excel, adobe acrobat, power point and photoshop.
