A Field Locate Supervisor is responsible for the effective supervision of the Damage Prevention Technicians. The Field Locate Supervisor will monitor technicians in the field, while planning and scheduling their day-to-day activities in a safe and efficient matter, and drive improvements to enhance the success, stability of their team members contracted work area.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Primary field lead for Damage Prevention Technicians to provide superior customer service and achieve customer compliance requirements
- Assigns and manages locator’s tickets and pools and manages the day to day and overall customer compliance metrics
- Conduct field safety and quality assurance compliance audits inspections to ensure all Health & Safety procedures and Book 7 regulations in compliance
- Set performance expectations and hold technicians to that expectation assist and oversee the daily work assignments
- Conduct regular meetings with team members to discuss and resolve any operations issues; assist staff on difficult locates as required
- Develop career opportunities, provide coaching, address performance, and disciplinary matters
- Investigate customer complaints, and adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for unionized sites.

- Support with recruiting, selecting, onboarding, and training employees both field and classroom
- Coordinate the assigning of equipment and supplies to locate staff to ensure all workers have the appropriate equipment in good working condition

- Fosters high quality customer service standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service issues; identifying trends; recommending improvements
- Commitment to innovation to optimize efficiencies and productivity
- Must be able to identify trends and changes in volume with ticket loads and develop operational plans to accommodate
- Strive to develop and put into action plans to maintain a minimum of 90% compliance and tickets no later than 10 business days
- Help with training of new DPTs, both classroom training and field training.
- Attend meetings, including monthly LAC meetings with utilities.
- Meet with the Manager to discuss / resolve any operations issues.
- Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and PVS Contractors Inc.’s
Policies and Procedures. It is the responsibility of the employee to obtain applicable health and safety information from your Supervisor/Manager
**Applicants for this position will have the following qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in a discipline relevant to the job function or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to establish effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Satisfactory driver and criminal background certificate
- 3 plus years experience working with Utility Locating
- 2 years supervisory or management experience with field staff, unionized environment is an asset
- Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff
- Strong customer service orientation, problem solving and results oriented
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple work assignments and sites
- Ability to prioritize and set goals
- Ability to drive changes and results and with time-sensitive deliverables
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills to resolve matters on site
- Excellent communication both verbal and written and presentation
- Ability to work in ambiguity and quickly adjust to changing business priorities
- Advanced computer skills a definite asset
**Additional Information**
Travel is required as projects will be located throughout geographic region. A company vehicle and gas card are provided.
**Physical Demands**
A Field Locate Supervisor must be able to perform the physical demands of the position’s work tasks and must be able to work in all types of weather conditions. This includes but not limited to, using a shovel, movement of equipment and/or materials; ability to carry equipment (transmitter and receiver) up to 20 lbs., walking ditches, walking on uneven surfaces and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
