**Job Description** AECOM**is seeking numerous **Archaeology Field Technician I** team members to be based out of our **Hamilton, London or Barrie**office.
Archaeological Field Technicians participate in Stages 2-4 archaeological assessments as described by Ontario’s Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism. This is primarily a labour job involving the hand digging of archaeological test units and screening the resulting dirt to look for artifacts of past human activity. They also participate in Stage 2 pedestrian survey work which involves walking across ploughed archaeological fields looking for artifacts on the surface to identify new archaeological sites. This position is a good fit for people who love working outdoors, learning new things, and working on teams.
**Qualifications** Minimum Requirements**:
- Highschool
- Must be able to perform strenuous archaeological fieldwork in all weather conditions (lift up to 40lbs & be capable of repetitive movement of shoveling & screening dirt).
- Reliable transportation to & from assigned AECOM office or designated project meet spot essential.
- Attend work in a prepared manner for all weather conditions, ensuring appropriate weather gear in readily available.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Highschool + 2 Years of relevant experience.
- Excavate & operate in a consistent and controlled manner based on the direction given by the Field Supervisor.
- Responsible for carrying out Stages 2-4 archaeological fieldwork under the direction of experienced archaeologists.
- Should be able to demonstrate attention to detail, identify artifacts for collection & organize appropriately for Field Supervisor.
- Sensitivity & awareness combined with a respectful attitude towards Indigenous culture and people is a must. Collaboration in a team environment is key.
- A valid Ontario driver’s license is preferred.
- Communicate information, issues, and concerns related to the site work effectively and professionally to the Field Supervisor.
**Additional Information**
Under the Collective Agreement between AECOM and LiUNA, the compensation for Archaeology Field Technician I at AECOM for the 2025 field season will be $24.48/Hr.
