This position requires working with all departments of the business, including manufacturing, retail and administration.

The position requires the ability to work independently and foster an environment of integrity and accountability within the QHSE team.

**HEALTH AND SAFETY**
- Develop, organize, implement and monitor a comprehensive health and safety management system (HSMS), training programs and management practices to minimize workplace accidents and meet all applicable regulations and company policies. Responsibilities include compliance to Environment Canada, Provincial OH&S regulations, ergonomics, hazard communication, electrical safety, fire protection, general safety programs and emergency preparedness.
- Review and analyze company accidents and historical claim experience to identify frequency or severity problems and loss trends; Conduct improvement projects based on findings to improve overall employee health and safety; Review all investigations from worksites for completeness and submission to workers compensation boards.
- Compile, track, and trend all internal incident and first aid reports to determine areas requiring improvement.
- Observe and participate in monthly Safety committee meetings for all manufacturing sites and branches to identify, review and evaluate safe work, practices, statistics and incidents.
- Assist and mentor QHSE Coordinators across Canada in all tasks related to incidents, inspections, investigations, training, H&S committees, PPE coordination, emergency response, and risk analyses.

**OTHER DUTIES**
- Participate on CPCA HSE Committee.
- Coordinate TDG training requirements and issue training certificates.
- Review Labels as ordered for compliance with CCCR, WHIMIS, AIM VOC regulations, etc.
- Collect, retain, and organize all inspection reports, claims reports, and H&S committee minutes.
- Perform detailed annual inspections of major manufacturing facilities and distribution centers.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Valid Drivers License
- People and communication skills to operate effectively in the organization;
- Sound working knowledge of safety, health and environmental affairs principles and regulatory requirements;
- At least 5 years’ experience as a safety officer in an industrial setting.
- Degree in Science or Engineering, Safety or Risk Management from an accredited college or university.
- Detailed knowledge of environmental operating requirements.
- Knowledge of commonly used industrial chemicals (hydrocarbons, various polymers, surfactants, respirable dusts).
- Knowledgeable about the WHMIS 2015 and TDG regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Working experience with MS Office, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Knowledge of the fire protection and prevention sciences and industrial hygiene.
- Ability to aggressively and diplomatically pursue and gain the cooperation of all echelons of management to support safety, health and environmental issues;
- ISO Lead Auditor certification, or knowledge of applicable standards (9001:2015, 14001:2015, 45001:2018) is an asset.
