Afternoon Sanitation Worker

**Position: Sanitation Worker (Afternoon Shift Premium of $0.75 per hour)**

A Sanitation worker is responsible for ensuring equipment and work areas in the facility are sanitized and cleaned in a timely and safe manner in accordance with HACCP & CFIA regulations. This position will require lifting and moving of products from area to area; the utilization of tools and other equipment for minor repairs/maintenance and clean-up tasks such as garbage removal, etc. The Sanitation worker should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where temperatures can go up to -35°C. - **Job Requirements**:_
- Ability to effectively communicate in English with teammates and leadership.
- Ability to operate all equipment appropriately in the work site in a safe manner and to use appropriate lock-out procedures.
- Ability to meet all the physical demands of this position including, but not limited to heavy lifting, repetitive motions with fingers, wrists and shoulder joints, frequent standing and able to work in varying temperatures.
- Ability to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency while using a creative and logical approach to resolution.
- WHMIS Certification will be required.
- Forklift &/or power jack certification may be required.
- Able to work in cold environments with exposure to temperatures ranging from -35°C - 6°C.
- Proven ability to maintain a good attendance record required.
- Work with mínimal supervision and in a team environment.
- **Job Duties/ Responsibilities**:_
- Reports to Plant Superintendent
- Replenishing paper towels, soap, and other sanitizer throughout facility.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, lunchroom, washrooms, changerooms, office(s) and overall warehouse on a routine basis.
- Cleaning and sanitizing warehouse facility including but not limited to, equipment, walls and floors.
- Clean facility in such a manner as to prevent personal injury, equipment damage and production downtime
- Ability to effectively work alone and in a team environment.
- Compliant with the company’s HACCP, CFIA and safety operating procedures.
- Proven ability to maintain a good attendance record required
- Maintaining a positive, safety focused attitude and a willingness to develop new skills.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- **Description of work conditions**:_
- Temperatures between -2°c and 4°c (on dock)
- Temperatures between -20°c and -35°c with some wind chill when the fans are running. (when going in and out of freezer)
- Can be a very congested and fast paced environment

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
