Aquatics Manager

Reporting to the HFA Director, this role provides leadership in the delivery of all aquatic programs at the YMCA of Saskatoon. Together with the management team, the Aquatics Manager will identify and implement strategies and systems to ensure program targets are met and to ensure the highest standards of program quality. The Aquatics Manager is responsible for overseeing, managing, scheduling, and promoting programming within the aquatics department. This includes managing Lifesaving Society courses such as First Aid&CPR-C, Bronze Star, Medallion, Cross, and National Lifeguard Award, swimming lessons and aquafit classes.
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensure a safe and fun environment for all staff, volunteers, members, and participants.
- Maintain Y standards and be a positive role model of the YMCA of Saskatoon mission, vision and values
- Respond to members concerns and complaints in a timely manner
- Demonstrate excellent customer service by being friendly, courteous and helpful to all patrons
- Administer all policies, plans, and procedures related to the YMCA of Saskatoon Aquatic programs
- Develop new and innovative programs and procedures and is responsible for new program initiatives
- Mentor, supervise and evaluate all aquatic program staff as per the YMCA of Saskatoon policies
- Implement recruiting and training of aquatic staff
- Provide a quality swimming lesson experience by ensuring consistent class sizes and ratios, optimizing pool space, coaching and mentoring swim Instructors and communicating with parents
- Monitor and manage annual budgets including purchasing equipment and supplies
- Manage program responsibilities including course inputs, registration, attendance, waiting lists, and progress reporting
- Fulfill functions of a Lifeguard or Swimming Instructor as a back-up during peak times or in the event of staff illness or vacation
- Administrative responsibilities including scheduling, approving timesheets, monitoring employee certification, performance appraisal, and reporting program statistics
- Adhere to the YMCA Child Protection Policies and Procedure
**Desired **Qualification**:
- Minimum 2 years of guarding and instructing experience _preferred_
- National Lifeguard certification (mandatory)
- YMCA Swim Instructor or Swim for Life Instructor certification
- Current Standard First Aid certification (recertified within the last two years)
- Current CPR C certification (recertified within the last year)
- Supervisory experience - _preferred_
- Lifesaving Instructor - _preferred_
