Building Services Supervisor

**Annual Salary: $75,429 - $94,300**

Reporting to the Director - Building Services, the Supervisor - Building Services will work closely with the Managers of Building Services to coordinate inspections, maintenance, and repair services for all related equipment for The Heritage Site (which includes The Manor House, PR Cook Apartments, Bethammi Nursing Home, and the commercial retail spaces within the facility), Oliver Road facility, the Lodge on Dawson, Amethyst House, and Balmoral Centre.

**Qualifications**:
**_Education/Experience:_**
- Post secondary degree or diploma in engineering, engineering or construction technology, or technical school graduation
- Membership in an affiliated professional association relating to the work requirements or ability to obtain (e.g. OACETT, PEO, CHES)
- Minimum three years of experience in institutional or commercial maintenance, preferably in a unionized environment
- Proven experience in current and active Building Code Identification Number (BCIN) as per the regulations of the Building Code Act
- Experience in the management of facility or equipment upgrades with knowledge of construction methods, documentation processes, and related legislation

- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements
- Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing, including the ability to issue clearly understandable written and oral instructions
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with coworkers, contractors, consultants, officials, collaborators, and staff
- Excellent project/time management, with proven ability to effectively coordinate a number of projects simultaneously
- Excellent analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proven acumen in business and financial management, with the ability to improve departmental effectiveness and efficiency through the management and utilization of human, financial, and physical resources
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to direct, motivate, evaluate, and recognize staff; proven ability to share skills and knowledge with others
- Proven conflict management abilities and mediation skills
- Proficiency with office computer equipment and software. Proficient computer skills for accessing information, updating preventative maintenance program and/or equipment troubleshooting
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices relating to maintenance
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable legislation and related regulations, codes, and standards; specifically, the Long-Term Care Homes Act and its Regulation and the Building Code Act
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as amended

**_Assets:_**
- One or more indentured apprenticeships in the building trades
- Proficiency with Cad drawing systems and Project Scheduling software
- Facility Management and/or project management credentials (i.e. FMA or PMP)

**CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
