Toronto, Canada Lightspeed Commerce Full time

**Hi there Thanks for stopping by**

Are you actively looking for a new opportunity? Or just checking the market? Wellyou might just be in the right place

You might be a data engineer or data analyst who always wanted to make the jump to Product Management, or a product manager with some data technical skills. If the description resonates with you, irrespective of past titles or roles, we'd love to hear from you

For this role, you **should be located in Canada (Toronto or Montreal)**, and be able to work within EST/EDT hours in a **flexible hybrid working model.**

**What you'll be doing**:

- Own and maintain the backlog for the Data Engineering team
- Own the roadmap and problem-space for areas that directly impact our day-to-day users, such as (including but not limited to):

- Access control to the data lake
- Data classification framework
- Privacy framework
- Collaborate to the overarching vision, strategy and plan to make Lightspeed more data-driven
- Cross functional collaboration with various product & technology teams.
- Building trusted relationships and managing key stakeholders.
- Translating business requirements into instructions for technical teams to execute, and clarifying any issues throughout the development process
- Managing an agile development process, including sprint and release planning, user acceptance testing and other related ceremonies
- Facilitating in developing new business processes and identifying areas for optimization

And a little bit of
- Collaborate on collateral to help Lightspeed to become more data-driven, e.g.:

- Identify gaps in our Knowledge center/documentation
- Help build tutorials
- Host information sessions
- Evangelize the capabilities of the data lake, and its use-cases to new users
- Communicating with our users to understand their problems and requirements

**What you need to bring**:
You will be working directly with a team of 7 data platform engineers located in Montreal, Canada. Our team offers a central service within the company, and is responsible for empowering Lightspeed teams to build data-driven products for our customers: this means there's a lot of collaboration involved, with a large number of different teams. The data lake is powered by the Google Cloud stack, primarily BigQuery.
- Good understanding of data lake cloud ecosystems, either from having been a consumer of a data lake in the past, or having built/maintained one
- Knowledge of typical challenges data-lake users may encounter
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of the technology
- Proven track record of managing a successful product through the software development lifecycle
- Knowledge of the Agile/Scrum methodology (Grooming, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, etc);
- Proven ability to engage with engineers, designers and other teams (stakeholders) in a constructive and collaborative relationship
- Great written and verbal communication skills: ability to synthesize complex information in a precise manner, ability to convey the value and concepts of initiatives to less technical individuals
- May require traveling to other Lightspeed locations from time to time
- Strict experience in product management is not a requirement (for example, if you are a data analyst, or engineer, looking to make the jump into Product Management, this could be a good opportunity for you)

We know that people are more than what's on their CV. If you're unsure that you have the right profile for the role... hit the 'Apply' button and give it a try

**What's in it for you?**
