As the Business Systems Analyst you will work with IT and the Business to define and deliver solutions that meet the business’ objectives. You will be responsible for combining business and technology skills with strong leadership, communication, negotiation, facilitation, and presentation skills. This role serves as the ultimate facilitator between Business and IT in truly understanding the business needs and plays a key role in the overall management and success of a project through the entire project lifecycle. Using proven methods and tools, this position leads the planning, eliciting, analyzing, validating and managing of requirements, business processes, high-level solution design, test case design, and implementation planning & support - in partnership with Project Managers, Business Stakeholders and IT interfacing groups. In this role you will report to the Manager of Information Technology and may also be called upon to lead other IT project work based on changing project demands.
**In this role you will**:
- Define and document business functions and processes
- Consult with functional unit management and personnel to identify, define and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of system access
- Act as a liaison between departmental end-users, mechanical engineers, information technology analysts, and consultants in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of case management systems to ensure optimal operational performance
- Analyze the feasibility of, and develop requirements for, new systems and enhancements to existing systems; ensure the system design fits the needs of the user and the business
- Track and fully document changes for functional and business specifications; write detailed universally understood procedures for permanent records and for use in training
- Identify opportunities for improving business processes through information systems and/or non-system changes; assist in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes
- Plan, organize and conduct business process reengineering/improvement projects
- Conduct change impact analysis to assess the potential implications of changes and document business rules, functions and requirements
- Participate in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality
- Provide technical assistance in training, mentoring, and coaching professional and technical staff
- Develop training curriculum and conduct formal training sessions covering assigned systems modules
- Direct or participate in studies of new and existing programs and special projects to determine feasibility, resolve problems including organizational, procedural, technical and fiscal research and analysis
- Provide work direction to one or more technical or clerical staff or act as a team lead on designated projects or assignments
**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- Business, accounting, or Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
- 4 - 6 years in business systems analysis
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office products (Visio, Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with SQL and relational databases as well as a solid grasp of data structures
- Extensive experience gathering business requirements from internal partners
- Strong work ethic and critical thinking skills
- Analytical skills and can produce end-to-end view of business processes and data flows
- Excellent communications skills including business writing and presentation skills
