British Columbia Rapid Transit Company Ltd. (BCRTC) maintains and operates two of Metro Vancouver’s three SkyTrain lines. SkyTrain is the first and one of the longest, fully-automated, driverless, rapid transit systems in the world. It boasts an average on-time service performance rating of 95 per cent and moves on average 250,000 passengers per weekday.
Both the SkyTrain lines operate out of BCRTC's Operations and Maintenance Centre in Burnaby, where more than 900 dedicated staff work in the areas of administration, engineering, elevator and escalator maintenance, field operations, vehicle maintenance, and wayside (station and guideway) maintenance.

**Responsibilities**:
PRIMARY PURPOSE
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Analyzes and audits compliance with applicable industry standards, provincial and federal regulations and BCRTC business processes and initiates any required corrective and preventive actions; prepares and distributes audit reports. Compiles audit checklists and templates based on industry and regulatory standards including previous findings and corrective action records and performs audits as defined. Identifies the need for, and initiates corrective and preventive action(s) for product and/or business process discrepancies.
- Reviews engineering drawings, specifications, change documentation and products to ensure quality elements are included; recommends revisions and improvements in accordance with standards, regulations and BCRTC business processes.
- Develops and maintains non-conformance system and templates. Tracks and analyzes repeat non-conformances and takes action to initiate change.
- Develops and analyzes maintenance engineering and methods data in support of maintenance programs.
- Works in close collaboration with Engineering, Maintenance and Procurement in relation to defining and documenting work methods and procedures.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives such as identifying non-value-added activities and high maintenance cost drivers to provide recommendations and innovative solutions to optimize methods.
- Acts as a Quality Assurance representative on the Change Management Panel.
**Qualifications**:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The requirements for this position would be acquired through a post-secondary diploma or degree in a Quality, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline plus a minimum of four (4) years of practical experience in a maintenance or manufacturing environment, including at least three (3) years’ experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance capacity. Requires an in-depth, demonstrable knowledge in manufacturing or, operations and maintenance practices and specifications, as well as an understanding of industry quality standards.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to balance and coordinate effort across multiple, concurrent activities.
- Highly motivated with the ability to consistently seek out improvements to current processes in order to achieve operational efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of standard office software including Microsoft Office, web-based and data/business management systems.
- Familiarity with provincial and federal standards relating to the operation of a railroad as well as SMS (Safety Management System) requirements.
- Technical documentation experience is considered an asset.
