**ABOUT THE ROLE**
Report to VP, Strategic Growth, The GIS Solutions Manager oversees Caltech’s geospatial data systems, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of spatial information. This role is instrumental in implementing and maintaining data standards, coordinating data collection efforts, and overseeing quality control processes to maintain the integrity of survey and mapping datasets. Additionally, the GIS Solutions Manager will collaborate closely with surveying and mapping teams, optimizing GIS technologies, and developing training programs to enhance GIS literacy within the organization.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
+ **GIS Strategy Implementation**
- Establish and maintain a robust spatial data infrastructure.
- Support Caltech’s strategic goals by facilitating informed decision-making through the integration of geospatial data.
- Promote, advocate, and educate internal and external stakeholders on GIS literacy and the use of GIS data and technology.
- Ensure teams can effectively leverage geospatial technologies in their projects.
- Select and configure GIS software and tools to meet organizational needs.
- Stay updated on technological advancements in GIS and recommend future upgrades or new solutions.
- Optimize the use of GIS technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
+ **Spatial Data Management**
- Oversee Caltech’s geospatial data infrastructure.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of spatial data.
- Implement and maintain data standards and quality control processes.
- Coordinate data collection efforts and manage survey and mapping datasets.
- Ensure spatial data is collected and organized according to industry best practices and regulatory standards.
+ **Business Development**
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with current and potential clients.
- Attend client meetings to understand their needs, presenting project proposals, and discussing potential business opportunities.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network with potential clients and partners.
- Identify new opportunities with existing clients by understanding their evolving needs and proposing relevant solutions.
- Assist with RFPs and bids.
**ABOUT YOU**
**To be successful in this role, you will need**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Surveying, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in GIS data management and architecture.
- Proficiency in GIS software and tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Strong understanding of data standards, quality control processes, and regulatory requirements related to geospatial data.
- Experience in project management and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to stay abreast of technological advancements in GIS.
- Strong communication and training skills to promote GIS literacy among staff.
Expected hours: 40 hours per week.
