Flaherty McCarthy LLP is a law firm focused on Civil Litigation. We represent our clients in all aspects of motor vehicle accident, personal injury and property claims in courts and tribunals throughout the Province of Ontario. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Insurance Defence Legal Assistant to join our team. In this new position, you will provide support to a team of 2 lawyers.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Preparing correspondence, pleading, and other legal documents
- Serving, and filing legal documents
- Communicating with clients, counsel, and court officials
- Maintaining calendars, scheduling appointments
- Maintaining an effective bring forward system
- Preparing special reports including gathering and summarizing data
- Maintaining electronic document system
- Establishing, implementing, and improving existing workflows and administrative procedures
- Assisting with docketing, billing, and cheque requisitions and closing of files
- Working with various legal software including ACL and GhostPractice
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 2 year of Insurance Defence experience
- Excellent follow-up and organization skills
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Ability to exercising initiative and judgement
- Ability to multi-task and manage your time in a fast-paced environment
- Team-player attitude with strong communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to learn
- Maintain strict confidentiality

**Salary**: $40,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
