**Job description**

**Position Overview**

We are currently looking to fill a temporary part-time position for **Korean Cook** at New Vista Society located in Burnaby, BC.

**Detailed Overview**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare assigned food items by following the established schedule, menus, recipes and quantity quotas; determine ingredients and quantities required. Assemble ingredients and quantities required.
- Reports and records substitutions and production quantities
- Tests food items for palatability and temperature, and adjusts accordingly. Recording all required documentation in temperature logs and meal time temperature logs
- Maintains established food rotations in storage in order to minimize spoilage and waste, all required stock is ordered and proper levels are maintained.
- Ensuring all Food Safe procedures, recommendations and all HACCP procedures and dietician recommendations are followed
- Operate and clean equipment, including mixer, slicers, grills, fryers, ovens stock pots and work surfaces. Reporting fault equipment, completing maintenance requisitions.
- Control portioning of food items to ensure quantity quotas
- Assign tasks to Food Service Workers as required
- Perform other duties are required

**Experience and Skills**:

- **Ability to speak, read and understand Korean and English fluently**:

- **Ability to prepare and cook authentic Korean cuisine in a health care environment**:

- Understanding all dietary procedures and policies
- Ability to operate and maintain the equipment safely
- Able to deal with others effectively
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to organize work.

**Education, Training and Experience**

Combination of education, training and experience in preparing authentic Korean cuisine

Food Safe level 1 Certification
