**Position Summary**

The general labourer is a valuable member to the Saskatoon Westeel Team, which helps all aspects of quality production. The labourer is a prep member, who inspects and prepares storage bins before the product is painted. The position is entry level and can lead to careers in welding, millwrighting, painting, and machine operating.

**Major Duties & Responsibilities**
- Actively supports and follows safety programs, quality assurance programs, labour laws, human rights legislation and occupational health and safety laws.
- Actively supports and follows all Westeel’s policies and procedures.
- To work with fellow team members to produce a high-quality product safely and efficiently.
- Aid in the manufacturing and prepping of all products using a variety of hand tools including angle grinders, drills, hammers, etc.
- Clean and inspect welds.
- Aid in the loading/unloading of scheduled deliveries.
- Package and labeling of products.
- Aid in the upkeep and maintenance of all Westeel equipment.
- Aid in the housekeeping and cleanliness of the facility and yard.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor or team lead.

**Job Holder Entry Requirements**
- Basic English reading and writing skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong mindset towards safety.
- Reliable vehicle and holder of a valid driver’s license.
- Physically fit.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Experience in an industrial or factory setting would be beneficial

**Working Conditions**:
Physical Effort:
Intermittent degree of heavy lifting up to fifty pounds and use of power tools and other materials is constant. Moderate physical effort is needed to perform the job.

Physical Environment:
There is some discomfort in the work environment such as exposure to high and/or low temperatures, and some exposure to health and accident hazards. There is little discomfort such as dirtiness that is related to general shop and yard conditions.

Sensory Attention:
There is a frequent need to give close attention to various stimuli such as written materials, electronic materials and information given verbally. 

Mental Stress:
Work independently. There is consistent pressure for productivity and quality simultaneously.  May have to wait for work coming from others and others may depend on/wait for outputs coming from this position. 

Type of Supervision Required/Given:
This position reports directly to the Team Leader and is not responsible for any other

employee(s).

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: $17.00-$22.00 per hour
