Job Context
In addition to being Canada’s largest brewer, Labatt is also the market leader in what we call ‘Beyond Beer’. Our Beyond Beer portfolio comprises leading brands such as Nϋtrl, Cutwater Spirits, Mikes Hard Lemonade, Palm Bay, SVNS Hard 7-Up and more.
The Beyond Beer commercial manager is the commercial ‘right hand’ of the Beyond Beer director. The individual in this role should be expected to have a seat at the table for all important conversations on Beyond Beer strategy in Canada. They should leverage their own insight and the power of the organization to shape our commercial strategy and in-market execution.
Job Responsibilities
- Revenue Management: Build a data-driven portfolio price strategy for each brand, region and channel [front line price, discount strategy, etc] taking into account consumer profiles, brand interaction and brand health. Second, align broader commercial organization on pricing strategy, demonstrating the business case(s) and reasons to believe. Third, work with regional managers to maximize execution of pricing strategy in 2025. Fourth, develop routine reports to assess what worked, and what didn’t
- Sales Operations: Optimize our salesforce usage through the selection of the ‘right’ objectives: type, time, place, etc
- Trade Marketing: Working with our trade marketing team, improve visibility & controls on spend so that we can better assess ROI. Once accomplished, work to reshape our trade marketing strategy in line with learnings
- Brand Marketing: Working with our brand marketing team, ensure that we have thorough commercial integration [and timing alignment] among sales levers; brand campaigns, trade programs, pricing, etc
- Innovation: Lead innovation projects from data-based insights to in-market execution. Have an opinion on what new products should exist, then lead sell in & execution [volumes, pricing, retailer strategy, sell stories, executional priorities, category management, etc]
- Performance Reporting: Being a key member of the commercial team, this role will support performance reporting to the Canadian, North American and Global levels of the organization
Job Qualifications and Competencies
- University Degree in engineering, economics, business, or science
- Ability to organize and solve open-ended problems
- Strong general business acumen + proactive identification of risks & opportunities
- Experience in the beer, alcohol or CPG industry is a plus
- Confidence, and ability to challenge senior management
- Cross functional experience in key commercial fields: revenue management, trade marketing, sales operations, innovation & brand marketing
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and high pressure
