Our vision is for all Mustangs to discover their personalized pathway through Western’s rich, holistic learning environment; engage in brave conversations with our diverse community on and off campus, and develop the courage to be uncomfortable without fear of failure in order to thrive throughout their degree and after graduation. **Responsibilities**: Transition, Leadership, and Enrichment (TLE) supports incoming students through a variety of different avenues, including the suite of summer transition programs titled Western Launch. The goal of Western Launch is to assist first year students with their transition to the university environment and culture. This includes helping first year students select their courses, learn more about services at Western, explore our campus, and meet members of our community before they begin school in September. Western Launch Student Coordinators will assist with a variety of summer programs. The Western Launch Student Coordinator supervises and supports a group of 13 Western Launch Student Leaders throughout the summer. They facilitate the training and day-to-day supervision of these student leaders, help prepare engaging on-campus programming, and assist with event preparation and management throughout the duration all programming. What will you gain from this role? - Direct experience training and supervising student leaders - Meeting facilitation and presentation skills to varied audiences - Enhanced communication skills through a variety of mediums - Further development of leadership skills - Experience with event planning and coordination - Problem solving and mediation practice - Enhanced organizational skills Key Responsibilities: - Act as a liaison between and collaborate with campus partners and Student Experience - Assist students with course selection, scheduling of their classes and helping to navigate student center - Track attendance of participants and manage the online tracking system - Assist with training and student staff development - Work with student leaders to ensure daily events run smoothly and efficiently - Create programming for year-long Launch Mentorship Program - Provide training for year-long Launch Peer Mentors - Provide a friendly and supportive environment for students and guests who attend on-campus programs - Deliver presentations to students and guests during on-campus programs - Serve as well-rounded role models for incoming students and first-time student leaders - Foster a positive and inclusive environment that helps participants develop a sense of belonging in the Western community - Help prepare and finalize program material and logistics - Display an energetic and enthusiastic attitude - Other duties as assigned - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Enthusiastic and involved members of the Western community - Excellent communication - Employs passion, empathy, and a desire to help others - Experience working with high needs groups, effectively managing conflict with a customer service focus - Excellent coordination skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and demands - High attention to detail and organization skills - Ability to facilitate training in an engaging manner - Aptitude for building relationships with campus partners and integrating information from different campus departments to connect first year students and resources ¿ - Knowledge of supports and services available to students at Western - Willingness to learn and expand knowledge of campus resources - Demonstrated experience facilitating small group discussions - Knowledge of course registration and degree requirements - Ability to take direction and provide leadership accordingly - Ability to demonstrate professional and appropriate relationships with students, family members, supervisors, and other staff members - Competency with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) Position Requirements: - Minimum 70% academic average (65% in Engineering) - Western undergraduate or graduate student, main campus only - Completed at leas
