Job Function/Purpose
The Mentoring Coordinator, reporting to the Program Manager, is responsible for the development, management, monitoring and growth of Community and Site-Based One to One and Group mentoring programs in accordance with National Standards set out by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada and to ensure that high quality programs are consistently delivered.
Casework Responsibilities
- Complete all required screening processes for volunteer mentors as per National Standards and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County (BBBSLC) Service Delivery Policies and procedures;
- Complete all requires screening processes for Littles and their families as per National Standards and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County (BBBSLC) Service Delivery Policies and procedures;
- Provide training to volunteers in all mentoring program parameters;
- Conduct the match process to assure quality service to the child, volunteer and parent is provided and adhered to;
- Provide an opportunity for a match introduction meeting to review goals of match and expectations of those involved;
- Match monitor all matches in accordance with BBBS Canada National Standards and BBBS Lanark County Service Delivery Polices and Procedures;
- Complete all match monitoring case notes in CRM database;
- Support volunteers, mentee and families as required;
- Meet regularly with Program Manager to provide updates on the progress of their assigned matches and attend Service Delivery Team meetings;
- Assist in volunteer recruitment as required;
- Work cooperatively with BBBSLC coworkers with a team-based focus;
- Provide regular reports to the Program Manager such as monthly statistics and up to date case notes, or special reports as requested;
- Perform administrative functions as required to manage caseload;
- Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency Privacy and Confidentiality Policy;
- Actively participate and assist in agency fundraising events/activities;
- Provide mentorship and direction to Co-op, College or University students completing their placements with the agency;
- Attend Board Meetings as required;
- Perform administrative or other duties as assigned.
**Program Focus**
- Maintain an overall working knowledge of all the mentoring programs in the BBBSLC agency;
- Create new activities and ideas to engage mentoring matches that support the mandate of the mentoring program (i.e. low-cost-no-cost activities for traditional matches, activity ideas for In School Mentoring matches)
- Participate in BBBSLC agency related activities involving children, families and volunteers in the mentoring programs (i.e. group activities, Annual General Meeting, recognition events, special events, etc.).
- Act as a BBBSLC agency ambassador and represents and models the values of the agency;
- Promote agency to community, including information sessions, community fairs, identify areas for program expansion;
Evaluation
- Performance review at the end of three months, then annually; and,
- Adherence to BBBSC National Standards of Service Delivery and BBBSLC Service Delivery Policies and Procedures.
Measures of Success
- National Standards are being met or exceeded;
- Children are being served as per agency goals, policies and procedures;
- Volunteer base continues to grow; and,
- All expectations of management are being met.
**Qualifications**:
- Possess a post secondary education; ideally with a major in any of the social work or child and youth worker disciplines and/or equivalent experience.
- Present a positive and enthusiastic attitude to the general public;
- Be familiar with Lanark County and its community partners.
- Have the ability to prepare and present a detailed written recommendation for success.
- Knowledge of the BBBS organization and/or other not for profit organizations is also considered desirable.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral,
- Good initiative.
- Good organizational skills.
- Excellent interviewing and assessment skills.
- Commitment to principles of diversity and equity.
- Excellent problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize workload as needed.
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications; Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
- A thorough knowledge of child safety
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
The incumbent must agree to reference checks, a vulnerable sector police clearance, and possess a valid Ontario driver’s license, regular access to a vehicle with a minimum $1,000,000 auto insurance liability coverage.

**Salary**: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
