Reporting to the Manager of Clerk Services, the Council and Committee Coordinator is responsible for providing legislative and/or administrative support to various City Committees, Boards, Task Forces, Quasi-judicial bodies and Council through the preparation of agendas, minutes and committee reports and the giving of procedural advice to the Chair and Members at meetings. The Council and Committee Coordinator is responsible for the preparation and distribution of all decisions made by City Council, as well as other official municipal correspondence, updating municipal by-laws and policies contained within the City of Brantford Municipal Code and Corporate Policy Manual, providing advice and guidance to municipal staff, elected officials and citizen appointees on various Boards, Advisory Committees and Task Forces in the preparation of reports, resolutions, notices of motion, by-laws and agreements for consideration by Committee and City Council. The Council and Committee Coordinator is also responsible for commissioning documents as a commissioner of oaths and officiating wedding ceremonies as a Wedding Officiant. The Council and Committee Coordinator will provide Members of Council with routine administrative and research support.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Must be able to demonstrate a level of expertise related to the duties described herein, acquired through successfully completing a College Diploma in Business Administration or Public Administration and or a combination of education and work-related experience, preferably in a Municipal Clerks/Legislative Setting.
- Two (2) years previous experience in municipal administration is required.
- Must have a sound working knowledge of parliamentary procedures and effective meeting procedures.
- Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of general statutes governing meetings of Municipal Councils, local boards, committees etc., including but not limited to open and closed meetings requirements and voting under the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, and requirements under the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act.
- Past experience with quasi-judicial bodies (Property Standards, Committee of Adjustment) and statutory obligations under the Planning Act would be considered an asset.
- Applicant must possess effective time management skills with the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment with a focus on customer service.
- Experience in a computerized environment with a high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Professional is required.
- The ability to interpret municipal by-laws, policies and procedures and to provide advice on same is required.
- Applicants must possess an acute sense of confidentiality and judgment and excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to deal diplomatically with all levels of management, staff, elected officials and the public.
- A high level of attention to detail is required in the preparation of municipal by-laws, updates to the City of Brantford Municipal Code, minutes, agendas, corporate policies and other documents.
- Knowledge of the municipal government structure, municipal departments and their functions and experience with eScribe is an asset.
- Ability to work outside regular business hours including some evenings.
- A valid Ontario Class G Driver's License is required.
- Applicants may be required to undergo skills assessment testing.

Pay: $37.62-$47.03 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
