J. Garnons Williams Ltd. is an agency that provides residential group homes and day programs for adults with both physical and developmental challenges.

We have four group homes and one day program in Nanaimo and another day program in Parksville. Adult residential services are provided in a safe and healthy environment. Respect for the differences of each individual is paramount, as is the awareness that we provide the best possible care for the residents when we work together as a team. We advocate for quality services in our community and promote self-determination and choice. Day programs and Self Help Skills programs offer a variety of recreational and educational activities in the community. The focus is on having fun, while maintaining high standards in quality of care, comfort and safety. We support our clients and each other to continue to make positive differences, growth and change. Our goal is to fully integrate individuals into their community.

**We are currently looking for casual staff - this is an on-call position, you give an availability monthly and we call you for shifts that fit within it. Preference given to those applicants that indicate that they are available for all shifts.**

**Shifts available are days, evenings, weekends, overnights and holidays**.

The starting wage is $21.63/hr **plus** 10.2% paid holiday and vacation pay, paid on every cheque. Raises are awarded every 2000 hours to a cap of $25.19/hr at 6000 hours, as per Collective Agreement HEU.

**_Hiring bonus of $300 will be paid after completing 488 hours._**

Residential Care Worker Job Summary:

- To provide care and support to the clients in all aspects of personal, physical, medical, emotional, financial, social, leisure and cultural needs in a safe and comfortable manner.
- To actively participate in maintaining positive communication lines, among co - workers, managers, employer, community and other professionals.
- To have the abilities and skills necessary to work as a team player.
- To maintain the upkeep of the household and its properties including the vehicles, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.

Job Requirements:

- 19 years of age or older
- Education or experience in health care or community support an asset, but not essential.
- Current First Aid certificate with CPR
- Ability to obtain a Class 4 drivers license but not a requirement for casual employment
- Clean criminal record check (new one obtained upon hire)
- Recent TB test (within two years)
- Hepatitis B inoculations (or waiver can be provided)

COVID-19 considerations:
Daily health checks are mandatory including temperature checks. Masks are mandatory. All PPE required is supplied.
