BCIT’s School of Computing and Academic Studies is seeking a regular, part-time (0.53 FTE) Faculty, Human Behavior to teach human behavior courses to students in allied health programs in the School of Health Sciences.**Duties & Responsibilities**

**DUTIES** &

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Our human behaviour courses cover a broad range of foundational interpersonal communication skills, including emotion regulation, active listening, nonverbal communication, empathy, probes, feedback, and assertion. Using role-plays and scenario-based learning, students practice responding to common healthcare situations encountered while working with patients/clients in distress, including asking sensitive questions, navigating conflict, setting professional boundaries, responding to feedback, and speaking up to promote safety. The courses emphasize cultural safety and humility, respect, and trauma-informed care.- As a human behaviour instructor, you will teach a diverse population of students in a variety of allied health programs to help prepare them for rewarding careers in the health care industry.- If you have a strong commitment to providing exceptional learning opportunities to the next generation of health care professionals, we invite you to apply.**Qualifications**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A master’s degree in clinical or counselling psychology, or equivalent training, from a recognized and accredited learning institution. A PhD is preferred.
- Relevant clinical experience within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
- Previous successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
- Ability to teach psychological principles, interpersonal communication skills, stress management, and working with cultural diversity, specifically cultural safety and humility using active learning strategies.
- Ability to effectively model and adapt communication skills to meet the needs of students in allied health fields of study.
- Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently to develop and maintain current, applied courses.
- Proven experience with educational technology and teaching online.
- Team player committed to a collaborative approach to education in health sciences.
- Proven commitment to equity and inclusion in the workplace and classroom.

**Salary Range**
- Salary Range: $65,045 - $113,545 per annum.**Additional Salary Information**
- Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.Position Details
