**JOB OVERVIEW: OPEN EDUCATION STUDENT AMBASSADOR**

Open Education Student Ambassadors work with Open Education Strategists to raise awareness for students about open education and open educational resources (OER). OE Student Ambassador responsibilities include creating and delivering promotional materials to students about OERs, liaising with the Kwantlen Student Association (KSA) on student-led open education initiatives, planning and implementing a Textbook Broke campaign for KPU, and designing and running a writing competition for students on the impact of OERs. OE Student Ambassadors may be called on to participate in events such as Open Education Week. The incumbent may be called upon to support other student-facing open education projects on an ad hoc basis.

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES**
- Create, deliver, and distribute OER promotional materials to students
- Liaise with the Kwantlen Student Association
- Develop OER impact statements
- Plan and implement at Textbook Broke campaign at KPU
- Design and run a student writing competition for OER impact statements
- Raising awareness for students about open education and OERs
- Participate in and help plan Open Education Week events
- Work with Open Education Strategists to create and deliver presentations for faculty on open educational practices

**PREFERED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES**

Preference given to students with experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Familiarity with open practices, licensing, and values
- Creating and delivering presentations
