**Position**: Outdoor Early Childhood Educator
**Type**: Part-Time, Permanent
**Location**: Port Coquitlam Parks (Lions Park, Chelsea Park, Wellington Park and more)
**Salary**: $22 to 25 per hour depending on experience
**Part time - permanent**:Our class time is from 9 am to 12 noon from Monday through Thursday, with half an hour of time for preparation each morning for 3.5 - 4 hours of total paid time depending on preparation required. We also operate summer camps in July from Monday through Friday mornings.***
**Ages**:Our program is for children aged 2.5 to 5 years.

Room to Roam Outdoor Learning is dedicated to providing enriching and immersive outdoor experiences for young learners. We believe in the transformative power of nature to ignite children's imaginations, promote physical activity, and nurture a sense of wonder and stewardship for the environment.
**Responsibilities**:
- Facilitate outdoor learning experiences that align with the curriculum and philosophy of Room to Roam.
- Create a safe and stimulating outdoor environment that encourages exploration, discovery, and play.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues through effective communication and collaboration.
- Embrace the principles of child-led learning and inquiry-based teaching.
- Demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability and outdoor safety practices.
- Exhibit good judgment, critical thinking and creative problem solving.
- Be able to handle emergencies calmly and skillfully.
- Work collaboratively within the team to maintain proper and safe supervision of children.
- Undertake risk mitigation and safety evaluations for all parks.
- Must work outdoors in all types of weather.
**Requirements**:
- Previous experience working with young children is required and experience in an outdoor setting is preferred.
- Certification or diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with children, families, and colleagues.
- Enthusiasm for outdoor activities and a willingness to work in all weather conditions.
- Be physically capable of handling such tasks as walking, bending, kneeling, lifting about 40 lbs., and run short distances.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Passion for promoting environmental stewardship and connecting children with nature.
- Criminal Record Check upon hire.
