**Position**: Cook

**Placement**:Waterdown Manor Retirement Home - 335 Dundas Street East, Waterdown, ON

**Reporting Structure**: Reporting to the Executive Director

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that meals are prepared in a timely manner.
- Prepare and follow a daily prep sheet to indicate levels on hand and amounts required.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Follow all required checklists and cleaning schedules during and following his/her shift
- Ensure food quality by maintaining high levels of cleanliness, organization, storage, and sanitation of food products.
- May assist the Dietary Aide to maintain a clean kitchen.
- Other duties may be assigned.

**Ongoing Education**: Complete all required in-services on a monthly and annual basis

**Competencies**:

- Ability to cook 3 meals per day for 50 residents following gluten free, lactose and other diet restrictions.
- Ability to interact with seniors including those that are cognitively impaired. Excellent organizational, observational, teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Works independently as well as within a team.
- Adheres to policies and procedures of Waterdown Manor and regulations set out by the City of Hamilton and RHRA, at all times.
- Demonstrates understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations and the organizations’ health and safety plans, policies and procedures.

**Education**:Culinary related certificate or cooking experienced preferred, but not mandatory.

**Shifts**: Shifts are 7:30am-6:30pm

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- 12 hour shift

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Waterdown, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
