Champ Metal Fabrication is a privately-owned manufacturing company. Our experienced and talented team of employees at our two facilities in Winnipeg, Canada and Jamestown, USA. We specialize in medium-to-high volume fabrication and assembly of common and stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel sheet/tube metal, including laser cutting, forming, welding, assembly and painting.

Under the general direction of the President/General Manager, while demonstrating a commitment to quality, efficiency and accuracy, the Human Resources Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices and provide support to various internal stakeholders.

**Duties/Responsibilities**
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs, acting as a culture champion.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace.
- Assist in the development and implementation of human resource policies.
- Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates.
- Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form.
- Ensure compliance with all state and local employment laws and regulations and recommend best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

**Requirements and Skills**
- Knowledge and understanding of human resources best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Strong decision-making and conflict-management skills.
- Proven ability to champion positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, creating connections and fostering trust.
- Self-aware with an understanding of personal assumptions, biases, values, principles, strengths, and limitations; takes responsibility for individual actions and performance.
- High standards of ethics and ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and sensitivity.

**Education and Experience**
- A university degree or diploma in Human Resources and/or related areas.
- Proven experience as an HR Generalist
- Understanding general human resources policies, procedures, employment legislation and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience and comfort using various technology, including Office365, ADP and IBEX, will be a plus.
- Experience using ERP systems.
- Know and understand the WHMIS labelling system.

**Physical Requirements**
- Long periods of sitting.
- Attention to detail
- Able to lift 50 lbs.

**Working Conditions**
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment
- High noise levels.
- Fumes, vapours, and gases.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
