We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and industry best practices
- Conduct regular assessments and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks
- Collaborate with department managers on implementing programs and policies at the field level
- Educate and train employees, managers, and superintendents on health and safety practices
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop corrective action plans to prevent reoccurrence
- Injury management including taking employees to OIS clinics, submitting required employer report of injury to WCB, coordinating modified duties with managers, facilitating medical follow-up appointments, and coordinating successful return to work
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety activities, such as incident reports, training records, safety statistics, safety data sheets (SDS), etc.
- Submit health and safety statistics, policies, and information for pre-qualifications directly to customers or through third-party vendors such as Avetta, ISNetworld, COMPASS, etc.
- Manage subcontractor pre-qualifications including ensuring WCB coverage, insurance, and adherence to our health and safety standards
- Manage the Health and Safety information system including adding new hires, creating new forms, uploading certifications, etc.
- Maintain the health and safety training matrix with up-to-date employee certifications and training
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Health and Safety Committee and ensure regular meeting
- Perform annual emergency and fire drills and facilitate annual fire extinguisher inspections
- Order PPE inventory for employees and manage vendor relationshis
- Purchase required health and safety training (Fall protection, First Aid, Elevated Work Platform, etc.) for employees
- Conduct annual internal COR audits and participate in reciprocation audits for external companies
- Other duties as may be assigned

**Qualifications**:

- 2-3 years prior experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety programs preferably within a construction environment
- Preferably, a diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Preferably, professional designation such as CRSP Certification or NCSO certification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Experience with health and safety software, preferably SiteDocs
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis and develop effective solutions

**Hours of Work**

Regular work schedule will be Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm; however, this work schedule may vary depending upon crew start times, project deadlines, etc. Must be available to respond to incidents and urgent tasks outside these regular business hours.
