**Crime Prevention Liaison Position Summary**
This dynamic individual joins a very busy team with The Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre (CACPC). The Crime Prevention Liaison works primarily in the community to provide or implement crime reduction initiatives, deliver crime prevention presentations, create awareness through info/event booths and contribute to organizational capacity building efforts. **Duties and Responsibilities**
Crime Reduction Initiatives
- Keep current on emerging issues and through community outreach offer crime prevention support, resources and targeted information
- Conduct Crime Prevention Though Environmental Design (CPTED) Assessments, complete reports, and perform follow-up consultations (training provided)
- Support initiatives, programs/services including the bike registry program, and graffiti abatement efforts
Crime Prevention Education & Awareness
- Provide crime prevention presentations in Red Deer & surrounding communities
- Promote the CACPC and Partner Organizations at community events/activities and info booths
- Assist in the development of educational resources and materials, including articles for publication
- Participate with and support all CACPC events
Organizational Capacity
- Maintain positive relationships with CACPC partners and Partner Organizations
- Participate with and support all CACPC fundraising, including sponsorship efforts, and grant submissions
- Assist with administrative tasks as required
**Assets and Skills **we are seeking**:
- Reliable, team player with a strong work ethic, a great attitude, and enjoys working with the public
- Public speaking ability, experience with Zoom, able to operate projectors, speakers, microphones etc
- Very organized, able to shift priorities as required, and able to complete deadline-sensitive tasks
- Basic knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook & Instagram
- Knowledge of crime prevention programs and initiatives is an asset
- Must be able to lift and move equipment and other items that may weigh up to 50lbs/23kg
- Multiple languages are considered an asset
**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field or employment experience in fields such as enforcement or security
- Strong computer knowledge: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certificate at the Advanced Level is an asset
- Must pass a criminal record check, and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
**Hours of Work**
- 30 hours per week - Monday to Friday
- Occasional weekends or evenings will be required
- Additional hours of work may be offered during peak times
**Pay Information**
- $17 - $18 per hour (Depending on experience)
- 4% Vacation paid each pay
**Benefits**
- 30 Hours Paid Personal Time annually (January to December)
- $400 Annual Health Care Allowance (This is the part-time pro-rated amount)
- CACPC is closed with paid hours between Christmas and New Years
**Additional Information**
- 90-day probation period will apply
- Office attire is business casual
