Department Supervisor

**Schedule**: Monday to Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm *must be flexible for occasional support on Afternoon and Night shifts*
**Purpose**:
To ensure that efficiency of output from Powder Coating line is maximized. Lead the department and ensure key measurables are met. Analyze and pursue continuous improvement activities relating to the Powder Coating processes
**Reports To**:
Production Manager
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (or the “Act”) and the regulations cks
- Supervise and lead the Coating department (all shifts)
- Coach and train team members about safety, quality and production issues to build an effective team
- Ensure quality procedures and requirements are understood by each individual for each assignment and product
- Ensure product is produced to meet or exceed customer’s quality expectation
- Resolve day-to-day process problems
- Ensure company policies and departmental procedures are adhered to
- Look for opportunities to improve processes, reduce cost, reduce scrap and minimize rework
- Participate in the corrective and preventative action process
- Study activities and develop standardized production methods to eliminate non-value added activities. Document these methods and implement across all shifts
- Coach poor performers and/or follow progressive discipline when needed
- Recommend any design improvements relating to manufacturing methods and processes
- Evaluate team members performance and give feedback on continuous basis
- Assist and Support Team Leaders in achieving and maintaining goals and monitor the results to ensure the accomplishment
**Skills & Experience**:
- Degree or Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in production supervision or leadership role
- Ability to read blue prints and data sheets
- Powder coating or wet finishing experience
- Ability to lead and operate with a continuous sense of urgency in a fast paced work environment
- Strong math skills
- Attention to detail is critical
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong problem solving skills including the ability to identify the root cause
- Quality oriented
- Strong verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work load of the team to accomplish goals
