**Dream is Hiring an Assistant Manager, Costing (Estimating) & Purchasing**

Dream is looking to hire an Assistant Manager, Costing & Purchasing to support home production-related purchasing activities for our Housing operations across multiple cities in Western Canada. As the Assistant Manager, you will provide direct support to the Manager of Costing & Purchasing and help lead the team in executing the business strategy and goals. This role will involve contributing to cost management strategies, supplier relations, quality control, and standardization to ensure the smooth and efficient production of homes.

**What will I be doing in this role?**

Here are the primary responsibilities you will take on:

- Support the Purchasing team in achieving department KPIs and home production targets.
- Maintain accurate takeoffs, costing, and purchase orders for all selections and options related to home production.
- Ensure the Purchasing team provides the necessary materials, tools, and support for the timely construction of all homes.
- Guide the team in maintaining clear and updated purchase orders for all construction phases, ensuring any changes in plans and specifications are communicated internally and externally.
- Help manage commodity and supplier strategies to leverage Dream’s position for maximum value, cost improvements, and risk reductions.
- Analyze opportunities to reduce costs, minimize waste, and improve material sourcing and availability.
- Keep management informed about potential production issues, including supply disruptions, supplier quality concerns that may affect possession readiness.
- Support change initiatives within the Purchasing team that align with the overall business strategy and Dream's values.
- Collaborate closely with other teams to achieve shared goals while understanding the challenges and impacts each department has on one another.
- Assist with the leadership and performance management of the team, setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and fostering a motivating environment.
- Support standardized procurement practices across all purchasing activities within the division.

**What type of experience should I have?**

We’re looking for someone who brings the following qualifications and experience:

- 5+ years of experience in residential single-family and multi-unit construction with a high-volume home builder.
- Post-secondary education in Construction, Project Management, Architectural Design-Building Development Technologies.
- Certifications such as Canadian Construction Institute, Gold Seal, SCMP, or similar would be an asset.
- Strong skills in relationship-building, problem-solving, and planning.
- Ability to travel as required.
