Research Associate - Liver R&D

**PERMANENT, FULL-TIME**
- We are seeking a talented and motivated Research Associate to join our multidisciplinary R&D team dedicated to driving our therapeutic portfolio from discovery stage to clinical manufacturing. You will have a passion for driving high-impact projects and are expected to make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals of our life-saving therapeutic programs. In your role you will be responsible for completing and advising bioprinting projects related to development of cell therapies for liver disease. This includes planning and performing lab experiments, analyzing data, and presenting the result to a diverse audience.- Note: This is a full-time position that will provide weekend coverage. Standard work schedule will be Saturday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Sunday.
**What You’ll Do**:
- Independently design, shape, and execute scientific studies to support the bioprinting of liver tissue therapeutics.
- Design and develop fabrication methodologies for implantable bioprinted tissues using Aspect Biosystems’ technology.
- Perform _in vitro_ assays to optimize function of bioprinted liver tissue.
- Support the execution of _in vivo_ animal studies, with the preparation of cultured cells biomaterials, and culture medias.
- Drive key program milestones and direction by analyzing data, interpreting results, and presenting information through experimental reports and presentations.
- Align cell culture approaches with scale-up and manufacturing teams to support the development of therapies.
- Maintain clear and rigorous experimental records, including electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Pro-actively investigate and improve existing methods and techniques.
- Become an expert user of Aspect’s microfluidic 3D bioprinting technology.
- Contribute technical expertise in bioprinting and/or liver biology to shape therapeutic strategies and programs.
**Who You Are**:
- ** Education**:MSc in cell biology, bioengineering, or similar discipline or a BSc with 2 years of experience.
- ** Professional Experience**: 1 year experience in a biotech or commercial setting is an asset.
- ** Tissue engineering expert**:Subject matter expert in tissue engineering, and/or liver biology.
- ** Cell Culture Experience**:Experience with multiple mammalian primary or stem cell types. Experience with 3D, spheroid, or organoid culture is an asset.
- ** Detail-Oriented**:You have outstanding attention to detail and experimental and process rigour. You take pride in your work and strive for excellence.
- ** Intellectually Curious**:You have a burning desire to learn more and aren’t afraid to ask questions.
- ** Collaborative**:You thrive in a multi-disciplinary team environment and believe that we can get further faster by working together.
