We are recruiting for an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to manage and administer our Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental programs for Component Operations in Cambridge, ON.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
EHS Management
- Monitor and assess shop activities to recommend measures or actions to be taken to ensure that all work is performed safely.
- Provide consultation and advice to all levels of management and shop regarding safe work / operating procedures.
- Develop safety procedures for shop and audit for compliance.
- Develop a comprehensive Environment, Health & Safety management system.
- Develop Environment, Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Design and deliver KPI and statistical reporting. Present analysis of trends and related corrective action planning.

Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor and assess shop production activities to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation: Occupational Health & Safety, Workers’ Compensation Board, etc.

Claims Management
- Ensure Workers’ Compensation Board claims management function undertaken for all shop activities is in a timely, cost effective fashion.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- University degree/college diploma in Health & Safety complimented by a professional safety designation, or;
- University degree/college diploma in engineering, science, business, adult education, complimented by a professional safety designation with relevant experience.
- EH&S Professional designation is a preferred asset.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Several years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of 3 years in a management role.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced problem solving and decision making abilities.
- Excellent relationship building and influencing skills.

Key Characteristics:

- Strong technical background in Safety Management systems, Human Performance concepts, and continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate with diverse audiences.
- Ability to interpret cross-functional processes, and to prepare clear, concise recommendations for process improvements in an appropriate style and format.
- Ability to work on your own for long periods when developing process improvements, but also able to work effectively in a small team when required.
- Ability to prioritize deadlines and to complete assignments accurately and on schedule.

Desired Experience:

- Minimum of 5 years' experience leading safety management in a heavy manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
- Experience in executing improvement initiatives through the use of established methodologies.
- Experience in applying/interpreting industry technical and quality standards.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining ISO 450001 safety management systems is considered an asset.
