Matcon Excavation & Shoring is one of the Lower Mainland's leading and most highly respected construction companies. Due to continued growth within our Excavation & Shoring division we are currently seeking experienced applicants for an Excavator operator position.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Completing all tasks safely
- Accurately and efficiently cutting lines and grades for the installation of sewer, water, and conduit mainlines and services
- Backfilling and hoe packing
- Curb & sidewalk prep
- Bulk excavation and truck loading
- Coordinating with the Foreman
- Shoveling tracks as required
- Proven experience operating several types of equipment (excavator, bulldozer, front end loader, telehandler, skid steer, etc.)
- Maintenance/ daily paperwork
- Mastered the following tasks:

- Legal loading of trucks - from stock pile & in-situ
- Safe excavation slopes, etc.
- Site organization and able to keep site neat
- Understanding of handling different soil types in wet & dry weather
- Understanding of grades
- Access and egress of site for trucks
- Bulk excavations, main line trenching, backfilling, hoe packing and hoe ramming‍
- Be able to recognize safety issues
- Complete understanding of typical industry-standard safe working procedures, especially around trenches and heavy equipment
- Must Contain a valid drivers license and be able to get to and from the job sites
- Someone who thrives being in a production-driven environment while staying friendly, professional, and a clear communicaton
- Excellent efficiency and accuracy
- Attention to detail and desire to provide high-quality workmanship, right the first time
- Problem solver, who can use initiative to carry on with the next task without instruction
- At least 3 years experience on a sewer/water excavator or backhoe operator. This is mandator
- Operators should also be well adapted to all types of adverse conditions such as extreme weather, project schedules, congested work spaces, etc
