JOB DESCRIPTION - Security

Reports to: Director of Business Development

**Job Details**

Security staff report directly to the Director of Business Development. They provide assistance, direction and exceptional customer service to patrons and staff, provide high visibility security to patrons and staff and are responsible for performing basic Security and Life Safety functions. In addition they ensure the peaceful enjoyment of our facilities by our customers and are responsible for the enforcement of Western Fair District policies as well as Federal and Provincial Government Regulations.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Brand advocate for the District. Sets the example on what it means to be a District employee: Proud, energetic, imaginative, highly principled, team-driven and dedicated to the organizations mandate, image, goals and objectives.
- Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Enforcement of Western Fair District policies as well as any legislated Regulations.
- Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Use of audio equipment, tablet, mobile device and associated reporting software.
- Upkeep of records that may be used as evidence in any legal proceedings.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- May be required to stand for long periods of time and/or carry out routine foot patrols.
- Attend all departmental meetings as well as all safety and professional development training sessions as directed.
- Maintain professional licenses. (Security Licence, ORC Licence, Smart Serve, etc).
- Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Western Fair Association (District)Health and Safety Policy and Awareness Program, all Western Fair Association (District)policies and procedures, including any other applicable legislation
- Other related duties and required or assigned

**Education and Experience Required**
- Grade 12 education combined with 5 years security experience OR Post-Secondary education (Law & Security, Police Foundations) with 2 years’ experience (may consider related experience).
- Must maintain a professional license in Security by the Province of Ontario, in good standing
- Ability to obtain AGCO license
- First Aid & CPR
- Driver’s license in good standing
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers and patrons providing information and direction
- Exhibit good judgment and decision making skills
- Report any equipment or general maintenance problems
- Required to carry out duties and complete appropriate reports/documents as outlined in the Standing Orders
- Must be able to work without direct supervision

**Working Conditions**
- May be required to stand for long periods of time and/or carry out routine foot patrols.
- Physically demanding
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- **24/7 Shift Work Schedule - Rotating over 4 weeks**:

- Ability to work evenings and weekends including holidays
- Exposure to various weather conditions
