**Position Summary**:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for daily checks and maintenance of all production and non-production equipment ensuring that the machinery is operating at the highest safety standard and that the plant envelope is of proper operation (lighting, compressed air, etc...) This position reports to the Plant Manager.
**Responsibilities**:
- Troubleshoot and conduct repairs on all production and non-production equipment.
- Perform all task in compliance with industry health and safety standards.
- Maintain parts and other supplies required for the plant machinery and building.
- Maintain machine maintenance records.
- Ensure plant envelope is operating properly.
- Dispose of all refuse in the proper (environmentally friendly) manner.
- Monitor and maintain stock of combustibles; and other duties as assigned related to the maintenance and safe operation of steel production equipment.
- Limited downtime through PM and PdM.
- Proper PPE must be worn when completing tasks.
- Must work efficiently and safely in all situations.
**Qualifications**:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Industrial Mechanic or related field.
- Excellent knowledge of AC and DC motors, electrical components and wiring diagrams for conveyor systems, pumps, hydraulic & pneumatic systems and gearboxes.
- Good working knowledge of high voltage (600V) systems.
- Ability to interpret schematics and blueprints.
- Willingness to be hands-on towards tasks and possess a positive attitude.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills and able to work in a team environment.
- Welding License would be considered an asset.
**Working Conditions**:
- Required to exert physical effort in handling tools throughout the day.
- Physically demanding and labour intensive job requiring standing, sitting, bending and walking.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs often.
- Exposed to noise and may be exposed to small fluctuating temperatures.
