About the Company:
About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to lead the development and optimization of biochemical assays that will drive our prognostic/diagnostic technologies forward. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, collaborating with McGill/Lady Davis Institute and other academic partners. The role is funded through the Mitacs Accelerate Program, with a one-year term and the possibility of extension for up to two years. There is also potential for permanent employment with the company based on performance and mutual fit. **This role will be conducted on-site at our academic partner's facilities at McGill University / Lady Davis Institute in Montreal, Quebec.**
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize novel biochemical assays for use in prognostic/diagnostics.
- Conduct experimental design, testing, and data analysis to ensure assay performance meets industry standards.
- Troubleshoot assay development challenges, optimizing for sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility.
- Work closely with academic collaborators at McGill University to leverage cutting-edge research in assay development.
- Contribute to publications, technical reports, and presentations to communicate research findings to both academic and industry audiences.
- Support the commercialization efforts by translating research into scalable solutions for diagnostic tools.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in designing, developing, and validating biochemical assays (e.g., Enzymatic, ELISA, immunoassays).
- Strong background in assay optimization, including issues of sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility.
- Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams, ideally within both academic and industry settings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex experimental challenges.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and data analysis software (e.g., Prism, R, MATLAB) is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in working with start-ups or with translational research.
- Familiarity with regulatory and commercialization processes in the medical device or diagnostic sectors.
- Experience with biological sample handling and diagnostic instrumentation is an asset.
