**SUMMARY**
This contract position will supervise the purchasing department and oversee day-to-day activities of the purchasing function as well as offer support in addressing purchasing-related queries of branch staff.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
May include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Meet with supplier vendors and transportation vendors regarding new products, services and pricing
- Support BSG to ensure proper set-up of new suppliers - inform managers of documents needed, build product price list, work with PDM team to create products in the database.
- Review, calculate, prepare and issue purchase orders according to established department procedures
- Prioritize orders based on lead times and services levels
- Maintain internal control & SOX procedures as they relate to purchasing
- Train purchasing clerks
- Liaison between branch and supplier
- Monitor and ensure proper reporting of any unacceptable branch purchase requisitions to operations manager
- Process purchase orders in JDE
- Supervise and manage suppliers’ catalogs updates
- Support BSG with issues related to cost discrepancies and receiving
- Operate internal control in a manner sufficient to safeguard company’s assets
- Ensure branch receives appropriate support and requests are serviced at optimum level
- Manage incoming supplier information - i.e. ensure it’s shared with appropriate department(s)

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Comprehensive and general understanding of company business and business objectives
- Comprehensive understanding of company policies and procedures
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform the standard functions of a supervisor
- Must be a self-starter and requires little direction
- Experience in purchasing department
- Highly effective skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; JDE experience would be an asset
- Prior experience in an office environment
- Demonstrate an understanding of purchasing and pricing objectives
- Office administration or accounting diploma would be an asset

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use a computer keyboard and computer monitors, stand; walk; use hands to type, touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the distribution warehouse that may require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
