Job description

Position Scope:
The Maintenance Person works under the direction of the Director of Maintenance. Maintenance staff are responsible for the overall maintenance and appearance of the facility. Demonstrates knowledge of and conducts their work in accordance with Wynn Park Villa’s mission, policies and procedures.

**Responsibilities**:
Ensure that the maintenance procedures are performed according to the facilities policies and procedures.

Daily inspection of all mechanical rooms.

Check maintenance requests on computer and complete as necessary.

Maintaining equipment.

In the spring, summer and fall, keep area around the building neat and tidy especially the areas around the garbage containers.

Ensures the lawns are mowed to proper heights, keep all edges trimmed, all plants and flowers are watered and weed flower beds as needed.

In the winter, keep snow and ice away from all exits and ensure main entryways are salted and sanded as required.

Removal of snow from all walkways and roadways.

Patch holes in walls or ceilings and paint walls as needed.

Fire drills to be performed monthly and performance sheet must be completed after each drill. Part of the drill is to ensure that all the doors are closing properly, and all bells are functioning. A walkthrough of the building will be conducted to ensure working order of all equipment involved. Before any fire drill takes place, maintenance personnel must ensure the police and the fire department are contacted.

Maintains knowledge of and works in accordance with the current facility policies and procedures relating to: Emergency & Fire, Infection Control, Occupational Health and Safety and any other risk management programs that concern the health and safety of employees, residents, and visitors.

Has thorough knowledge of and demonstrates the safe use and care of the equipment.

Maintains a record of supplies and informs the Director of Maintenance when supplies need to be replenished.

Willingness to serve and participate on various committees of Wynn Park Villa.

Willingness to attend and/or participate in In-service Programs and Workshops.

Uniform and appearance in compliance with the “Dress Code” policy of Wynn Park Villa.

Demonstrates dependability, ability to work in a team structure and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Mentally and physically capable of performing assigned duties.

Demonstrates the skills, ability, and qualifications to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Support Services or Administrator.

Qualifications:
Red Seal Trade (Electrician/Plumber) is an asset but not necessary.

Minimum 3-5 years of job experience

Ability to be on feet for long periods of time

Comfortable with heights - Step ladder/extension ladder

Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Repetitive Tasks

Physically capable of outside work (shovel snow/push mow) etc.

Perform routine maintenance work such as drywall repair, painting

Perform minor repairs on equipment, machinery or appliances

Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, and plumbing

Physical Capabilities - Bending, crouching, kneeling

Be dependable, reliable, able to work alone or as a team, able to use own initiative when deciding how to prioritize work orders/jobs

Good communication skills

Knowledge of building management systems

Comfortable using - Power Tools, mowers, snow blowers

Valid drivers license

Ability to work every other weekend

Read blueprints/schematics

Respectful and hardworking team player with professional and courteous manner

Experience working in a Long-Term Care or Home Care Setting an asset

Clear Criminal Record Abstract and Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months

Shift Availability:
8 Hour Shifts

Day shifts and Every Other Weekend

Covid-19 Considerations:
Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
