**Unit/Project Description**:
The Student Success Centre (SSC), Student Affairs serves an integral, central role in the development and provision of innovative programs and services to students in the areas of First-Year Experience (including outreach, access, transition, and orientation, financial education and support, and the Archway Program, the full-year First-Year Mentorship Program); Academic & Writing Skills Development; Career Counselling, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Experiential Learning; International Student Services (ISS) and Global Experience; Spiritual Care and Learning; Leadership Development; and Student Community Relations.
The Student Success Centre works in strong collaboration with Student Affairs, Faculty, and University partners, and with external community partners through the Office of Community Engagement (OCE). The vision for the SSC is for all students and alumni to thrive and realize their academic, professional and personal aspirations.

**Job Summary**:
Responsible for the implementation, and evaluation of a communication and marketing plan for a program, department, or faculty. Uses specialized skills to promote and disseminate various products and services.

**Purpose and Key Functions**:

- Implement and evaluate dissemination plans for each of the program products.
- Create communication, marketing, and dissemination tools for diverse audiences in print and electronic formats.
- Write a variety of documents such as correspondence, and marketing and communication pieces.
- Promote departmental programs to various clientele.
- Use programming language to develop multiple websites optimizing usability, website architecture, and search engine rankings.
- Gather and compile information from documents such as work plans, progress reports, research documents, publications, and government documents.
- Proofread and edit various publications authored by staff.
- Liaise with graphic designers to produce effective marketing pieces.
- Gather information and help to create presentations for diverse audiences within specified guidelines.
- Conduct database, literature and web searches to find documents and articles used for reference in marketing tools.
- Provide advice to program staff on how best to implement marketing plans and strategies.
- Collaborate with program staff to plan, coordinate, and implement various communication projects.
- Provide recommendations on the future development of communication strategy structure, function, and activity.
- Communicate with various members of the community to explain the background roles, functions, activities, products, and services of the program.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and provide specialized communication information.
- Gather, compile, and distribute information to colleagues and partner organizations.
- Attend conferences to represent the program and provide information to others.
- Assemble, copy, collate, and distribute information materials and packages.
- Respond to inquiries that are specific in nature and require knowledge of program products and services.
- Remain current with frequent developments in social media platforms and trends in the communication field.

**Requirements**:

- 3 year Community College diploma in Marketing or a related field of study.
- Requires 3 years of relevant experience.

**Assets**:

- Knowledgeable and familiar with using digital technologies, including social media platforms
- Prior experience working with multi-stakeholder groups or on cross-functional committees
- Former involvement in student clubs, student organizations and/or intramurals on campus would be considered an asset.
- Understanding and experience with creating online content with a focus on the user experience
- Experience developing accessible content and knowledge of AODA
- Great attention to detail
- Proactively contributes ideas, seeks input, shares information
- Proven relationship-building skills with diverse groups of individuals
- Can work autonomously and as part of a team

- Knowledge of the McMaster University campus
- Experience with some or all of the Adobe Creative Suite products
