As a key member of the Quality team, the Quality Assistant Manager is responsible for contributing to the overall success of the Company by accomplishing the organization-wide business plan and objectives, and ensuring consistent quality of production. The Quality Assistant Manager plays an integral role in developing, managing, improving and maintaining the company’s Quality Assurance Program. The Quality Assistant Manager is responsible for day to day operations, inspections, process control as well as working on on one with customers for audits and system related purposes. The Quality Assistant Manager has the responsibility and authority of the Quality Control process as the process owner.
**Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Supervisor daily operations of the Quality Department
- Attends production, technical and staff training meetings
- Ongoing interaction/interface with customers for audits and system related purposes
- Ensuring the company is in compliance with all quality legislation
- Develops and maintains performance management and improvement systems
- Identify and resolve problems, completing audits, determining system improvements, and implementing change
- Ensuring all shifts are staffed with the required, trained personnel that can ensure conformity to product requirements
- Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability
- Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes
- Manages cross functional problem solving and continuous improvement teams and activities
- Manages PFMEA, APQP, and PPAP activities requiring QC lab measurements
- Handles disciplinary issues as they occur and recommends remedial actions to Human Resources
- Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, studies, recalls and corrective actions
- Complies to regulatory and employment concerns
- Ensures the safety of the workforce
- Takes ownership of customer issues and follows up with a “customer is right” attitude
- Promotes continuous improvement and teamwork in all customer functions, internal and external
- Networks through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups and employees
- Helps to maintain an employee oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance
- Provides personal ongoing development
- Communicates company programs and practices and communicates to team in a timely manner
- Assists with identifying performance gaps and takes action to improve through remedial training, self-development, or otherwise
- Support company Health & Safety policies
- Manages the maintenance of 5S expectations of the QC Lab and office
- Other duties as required
**Qualifications**:
- Technical degree, preferably in the field of Quality or Engineering
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Quality professional in a manufacturing environment and/or demonstrated work experience, and/or internal training/testing
- Advanced understanding and experience with ISO9001, ISO/TS 16949 and ISO14001 certification systems
- Strong team building and team leadership with experience in a managerial position
- Strong presentation, written and verbal skills
- Strong morals and ethics, along with commitment to staff privacy
- Ability to identify development needs of employees and provide coaching and mentoring
- Superior attention to detail in all areas of work
