An exciting opportunity exists at Cobra Electric Services Ltd for a Mechanical Apprentice who has completed their 3rd or 4th year apprenticeship to join our team This full-time opportunity would be based in our yard in Port Kells yard in Surrey, BC and will be mentored by the onsite Journeyman Mechanic.

Cobra Electric has been serving municipal, commercial, and industrial clients throughout the Lower Mainland, for 36 years. The company provides street lighting, traffic and intersection electrical maintenance both on call and annual contract. Areas of specialization include:

- Street Lighting Installation and Maintenance
- Traffic Signal and Street Lighting Parts
- Traffic Signal Installation and Maintenance
- Circular Traffic Loops/Count Stations
- Movie Lighting Rentals
- Parking Lot Lighting
- Pole Painting
- Seasonal lighting
- Aerial Banners

Apprentices will be working on vehicles and equipment (gasoline or diesel engines) such as:

- Pickups, Vans & SUV’s
- 1-ton & 1.5-ton bucket trucks
- 3-ton & 5-ton trucks (with Supervision)
- Auxiliary Power Units (APU’s) & Asphalt saws
- Completion of 3rd or 4th year apprenticeship is required (commercial transport, heavy-duty, or automotive).
- Valid Class 5 or 7 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement is an asset but not required.
- Prior mechanical experience working on light duty fleet is required.
- Proficient in using computer software and programs.
- Ability to acquire and record accurate information.
- Willing to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Capable of performing heavy physical labour.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Positive attitude with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Safety conscious.
- Dedicated and committed.

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

- Ensures a wide range of Company vehicles and equipment, as assigned, are repaired and/or receive the specified maintenance in accordance with established standards.
- Record details of repairs and work performed on work orders and in vehicle logbooks.
- Maintains knowledge and skills at a level which enables ongoing effectiveness in handling all aspects of the work.
- Ensures co-workers, customers and members of the general public receive co-operation, service and respect at all times.
- Provides complete and timely records as required by Company policies and guidelines.
- Ensures all assigned tools and equipment are accounted for and are properly maintained.
- Performs other related duties and special assignments as required and assigned.
