We are looking to hire a skilled and experienced full-time **Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) Wire Operator **to join our manufacturing team in Scarborough, Ontario. The Wire EDM Operator is responsible for setting up and operating Wire EDM machines to produce precision parts and components according to specifications.
- **Key Duties & Responsibilities**_
- Setting-up, operating, and maintaining Wire EDM machines to produce machine parts according to job requirements and blueprints
- Inspecting and measuring finished products to make sure they meet required tolerances and quality standards
- Loading materials into the machine, ensuring correct alignment and positioning; and monitoring machine operations to detect any deviations or issues
- Adjusting machine settings to optimize production output and ensure that quality standards are met
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, CAD files, and programming codes to input correct machine settings
- Inspecting finished parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards
- Performing routine maintenance on wire EDM machines, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs as necessary
- Collaborating with engineers and other team members to improve production processes and efficiency
- Maintaining accurate records of production runs, machine maintenance, and quality control checks; recording all information accurately on the “Labour Reporting Sheet”
- Keeping a daily agenda with accurate and organized daily targets set by the Supervisor for finished assembly
- Complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and polices outlined in the Company Health and Safety Manual to prevent workplace injuries.
- **Qualifications**_
- Secondary-school Diploma, or equivalent; with technical training or certification in machining, preferred
- Five-years’ experience as a Wire EDM Operator, or similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferred
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming Wire EDM machines
- Proficiency in using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges; and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work, with good troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve practical problems
- Comfortable working independently with mínimal supervision and as part of a team
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment; and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and machining methods
- Expertise working with heavy parts, near moving mechanical parts, and material handling equipment
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the day, and able to lift up to 30 lbs., unassisted.
