In the lab, we are interested in studying molecular regulation of developing and adult neural stem cell properties including proliferation and differentiation using genetically modified mouse strains, with the ultimate goal of defining novel approaches for brain repair after stroke damaged brain injury.

The experience with animal handling, animal behavior and genotyping is required for the position. The technician is also expected to take various lab management duties including ordering reagents, working with other staff to ensure all equipment are in working order etc.

Equipment used includes, but is not limited to: pipettors, centrifuges, incubators, and standard PCR machines, computer.

**Basic Requirements (Education/Experience)**:

- B.Sc. or acceptable equivalent combination of education
- 3-5 years’ experience working in a research laboratory
- Experience with animal handling, animal behavior and genotyping
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with computer software for data entry
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Ability to manage the activities in the lab: ordering, organizing, documentation etc.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience with molecular cloning, immunocytochemistry, and primary cell culture
- Familiarity with laboratory protocols & safety policies
- High-level of hand eye coordination and accuracy
- Ability to resolve routine problems and willingness to learn new techniques.

**Contract Details**:
This is a 1-year full-time contract with the possibility of renewal

**Salary**: Min:$21.278/hr - Max:$30.747/hr
