Crimson Lake Provincial Park
The majority of work for this position is completed outdoors and requires daily handling of chemicals, use of hand and power tools, and driving utility terrain vehicles (UTVs). This job can be physically demanding and also requires basic understanding of computer operations for minor administrative tasks such as time entry and approval.
**Responsibilities**:
As part of the maintenance team, you strive to maintain Alberta Parks’ high standards to ensure quality customer service and safety is provided at all times. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing and providing leadership and guidance to maintenance service workers and equipment operators
- Provide on-site support and coordination of daily tasks
- Ensure staff receive appropriate training
- Responding to in-person requests for information on area amenities and park conditions, as needed
- Responsible for reporting back to Supervisor on completed tasks
- Identify any maintenance requirements throughout park and report back to Supervisor
- Working alongside maintenance service workers and ensuring daily activities and projects are completed to a high standard:
- Routine custodial and cleaning duties of park facilities
- Routine lawn and grounds maintenance
- Routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles and equipment
- Trail and signage projects
- Safe operation of small and mid-size equipment
- Working alongside supervisor to maintain water and wastewater treatment systems
- Being familiar with and practicing all pertinent occupational health & safety (OH&S) policies, procedures and protocols and emergency response plan (ERP) and protocols.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Some high school education plus one year of experience, preferably related to maintenance or supervisory experience
**Additional Requirements**:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Alignment with the required behavioral competencies of the role (see below)
**Assets**:
- Experience with hand and power tools: Good working knowledge in the operation, maintenance and safety of small equipment
- Experience working in custodial, landscaping, or similar positions
- Carpentry, plumbing and/or electrical experience
- Chainsaw certification
