It is collaborative person & family-centred care delivered using a team-based approach throughout the continuum of care across all ages and stages of illness, including bereavement. **SUMMARY**
Working closely with and reporting to the Manager, Development, the Philanthropy Officer - Major Gifts is responsible for engaging a portfolio of current and prospective individual major gift donors as well as seeking new opportunities to grow major giving to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
This donor portfolio represents both high capacity major donors and family foundations, as well as mid-level donors who demonstrate potential to increase their giving through thoughtful cultivation and stewardship.
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-starter with a vision for growth and the ability to foster lasting relationships to build upon momentum at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards a portfolio of individual prospective and current donors.
- Work closely with the Manager, Development to develop donor growth strategies and prospective donor acquisition plans for the wider team and organization.
- Primary relationship manager for several of the organization’s key major gift supporters, both individuals and family foundations.
- Develop, lead and manage a pilot Canuck Place program to engage a new target demographic of young professionals to raise a new source of revenue for the organization.
- Applies a disciplined moves management approach and customizes strategies for each relationship that encourages multi-year commitments and transformational gifts.
- Actively utilizes prospect research tools to identify new relationships.
- Develops strategic proposals based on short, intermediate, and long-term funding goals of the organization to reach or exceed annual revenue targets.
- Monitors and evaluates activity and results; identifies challenges and manages up where required.
- Plays a lead role in soliciting, closing and stewarding significant gifts.
- Works collaboratively with a cross-functional team to plan and host engaging events and donor experiences for major gift donors and potential donors
- Understands and leverages opportunities to collaborate with the events team and planned giving team, to promote meaningful options for support.
- Prepares personalized and detailed donor impact reports, to ensure meaningful stewardship for assigned major gift donors.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- The successful incumbent will possess a related degree or diploma from a recognized educational institute or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- In addition, 3 or more years of progressive non-profit fundraising experience is optimal, including experience managing a major gifts or planned giving portfolio.
