Norseman Structures has been in the protection and shelter business for over 100 years, starting with the fabrication of outfitter and exploration tents in the 1920s. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Structural Design Supervisor leads a team of Designers in providing drafting and design services in support of all company requirements. The Structural Design Supervisor will play a key technical role in ongoing development of processes both within the Design department and the company in general. He/she will also be responsible to advise Senior Leadership of requirements for ongoing staff training and investment in software to ensure our detailing practices are aligned with industry standards.

**Responsibilities**
- Lead a team of Designers in providing drafting and design services in support of all company requirements within agreed upon timelines.
- Review work of Designersas needed to ensure accuracy and alignment with design intent or delegate review to Designers as appropriate.
- Train, coach, and guide development of Designers through creation of career development plans which will include goal setting, ongoing technical training, and regular formal and informal performance discussions.
- Guide the development of drafting standards to ensure Norseman stays aligned with industry standards in regards to software advancements, process improvements and employee technical competence.
- Act as a technical resource to support and train team members in all departments including Dealer Support, Construction, Manufacturing, and the Proposal Group.
- Focus on continuous improvement of Design processes with the objective of reducing error rate, increasing efficiency, and improving record/knowledge capture.
- Work proactively and collaboratively across departments and with relevant stakeholders to advance interdepartmental processes with the objective of improving workflow, communication, and overall efficiency of project delivery from lead to project completion.

**Qualifications**
- Engineering Technology Diploma - preferably Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or CAD/CAM Engineering Technology, or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years Design/Detailing experience in the Manufacturing industry
- Proficient in the use of Excel
- Advance Proficiency with 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D modeling Software.
- Strong problem solving capabilities.
- Experience in construction and manufacturing is an asset.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and shift priorities as necessary.
- Conflict management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-department team, either as a leader or contributor.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
