Our robust Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility program continues to grow, and has been recognized by the United Nations and many other organizations for our leadership. **ABOUT THE ROLE** Reporting to the Manager, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Indigenous Relations is responsible for leading policy, planning and program implementation for Inclusion and Accessibility activities and initiatives; performing as Corporate Lead for Accessibility, coordinating the identification and removal of barriers to accessibility in programs, services and facilities; coordinating and overseeing the preparation and implementation of the Region’s Multi-Year Accessibility Plan; leading the implementation, monitoring and compliance of accessibility regulations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA); supporting York Region Council’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (YRAAC); providing policy direction and support to all Departments and stakeholders in the preparation and implementation of accessibility plans; and providing thought leadership and leading implementation of plans, policies and programs to advance the vision of the Region as a welcoming and inclusive community including leading all activities and initiatives of the Inclusion Charter for York Region in the organization and the community. **WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING** - Leads the development and implementation of the Multi-Year Accessibility Plan for York Region and York Regional Police to meet the requirements of the AODA and to identify, remove and prevent barriers in programs, services and facilities; monitors and reports corporate compliance and accessibility actions including legislated compliance reports. - Monitors and coordinates the corporate response to accessibility legislation reviews and amendments including impacts to the organization. - Leads and oversees assigned project activities and processes, working with multi-stakeholder groups (internal and external) to gather data, stakeholder input and leading practices to inform the actions of the Inclusion Charter for York Region initiative. - Recommends policy changes to the Manager and senior management and participates in the creation of new inclusion policies, including those that address the Region’s provision of services to clients and customers with disabilities, in accordance with legislated requirements. - Works with the Branch Communications Unit and Corporate Communications to develop and implement communication plans to support the actions of the Inclusion Charter for York Region and to raise awareness of Accessib
